Join Art Tours on the second of our regional discovery tours. Departing in March 2016 we visit the recently opened Len Lye Centre in New Plymouth, cruise through Whanganui and end in Palmerston North.
Our five night odyssey will take us through the Len Lye Centre and the Govett Brewster in New Plymouth, Tawhiti Museum, Hawera, and the Sarjeant Gallery in Wanganui and Te Manawa in Palmerston North. Meet collectors, enjoy open homes, and discover the cultural hotbed of Whanganui and more.
Day 1 – Thursday 10 March
This morning join the private 14 seat minibus departing from Auckland, journeying through the Waikato for lunch, arriving in New Plymouth late afternoon.
Day 2 – Friday 11 March
Today we spend time at the Len Lye Centre, and afterward meet some of locals in the art scene and spend our evening in New Plymouth.
Day 3 – Saturday 12 March
It is time for the annual “House and Garden Open Homes” today – we have timed our visit wisely to enable us to visit up to eight of Taranaki’s most well regarded homes and gardens via our handy minibus. This event is an annual well regarded event we are very much looking forward to it. Your evening is free in New Plymouth.
Day 4 – Sunday 13 March
This morning we head out around Mt Taranaki to Hawera, where we visit the Tawhiti Museum and its amazing dioramas. In the afternoon we arrive in Whanganui in time for a visit to the Sarjeant Gallery in its current location, before a wander around the riverbank.
Day 5 – Monday 14 March
This morning we have an appointment to the WH Milbank Gallery and on to the McNamara Gallery. This evening you will have earned a well deserved G&T.
Day 6 – Tuesday 15 March
Its on the bus and out to the Manawatu for a visit with a local artist before our tour finishes with a drop off at Palmerston North airport for your flight home this afternoon.
