We spent an amazing couple of hours with Curator Maud Page visiting The Promised Land, Michael Parekowhai’s kind of retrospective at the Gallery of Modern Art in Brisbane. To say it is an amazing show is an understatement. From the built to fit state house, the new Captain Cook sculpture and the grand carved piano it was an look back / forward at the same time.
Brisbane is a great city to spend a few days looking at art. We can recommend the Milani Gallery in Woollangabba and the great café next door. The IMA, Jan Murphy and Phillip Bacon are in New Farm / Fortitude Valley and will make an excellent afternoons pottering before wandering down to the James Street Precinct for a touch of shopping and great eats.
