Join Art Travel in the Bay of Plenty in June 2021.
Our four nights in the Bay starts with a drive from Auckland through Rotorua ending up the Whakatane area, before working our way back to Tauranga. In Tauranga we visit the Tauranga Art Gallery, Sumer, and meet local artists and makers before heading back to Auckland. This tour will be a great mix of art, history and cultural sights.
Sunday 30 May
This morning we join Glen on the bus headed for Whakatane. There will be time for coffee and a quick visit to the Wallace Gallery Morrinsville before heading through the Rotorua lakes for lunch before arriving in Whakatane late afternoon and a visit to the Whakatane Museum and Gallery.
Monday 31 May
Today we spend the time discovering the history and culture of the local area around Whakatane including Ohiwa Harbour and Ohope as far as Opotiki.
Tuesday 1 June
Depart Whakatane today through Maketu to Tauranga. On arrival visit the Tauranga Art Gallery and meet the recently appointed Director. Enjoy a studio visit this evening.
Wednesday 2 June
Our last day on tour will have us meeting local artists and visiting the excellent local dealer gallery Sumer. We finish the day with a wine and dinner.
Thursday 3 June
We head home this morning via Katikati and arrive in Auckland mid afternoon.
