The Artists Open Studios are always an enjoyable weekend in this vibrant art city astride the Whanganui River visiting artists and studios, including the opening night. Thursday 15 March – Auckland to New Plymouth
Depart Auckland at 9am, arrive around 3pm
1 nights accommodation at the King and Queen Hotel
Len Lye Centre is open until 5pm – our hotel is across the road.
Dinner is included tonight nearby.
Friday 16 March – Sunday 18 March
Depart for Whanganui via Hawera and the Tawhiti Museum and Waverley
Arriving in Whanganui early afternoon, check in at the Aotea Motor Lodge for three nights.
Tonight enjoy the opening festivities of the Artist Open Studios.
For Saturday and Sunday we will spend our time visiting the Studios in and around Whanganui, the Quartz Museum of Rick Rudd, and the Sarjeant on Quay, and a private studio visit also.
Monday 19 March – Check out and home
This morning we check out – and those that wish to join Glen for the drive home may do so, or we recommend taking the Chatham Air flight back to Auckland (not included – prices start from $99)
