Monday, 4 March 2019: Depart Auckland to Queenstown

Please arrive at Auckland airport in time for an 8.50am check in for a 9.30am flight to Queenstown. On arrival in Queenstown we collect our van and head to the Milford Gallery for introduction to our time in the deep South.

We will find time for a bite before getting on the road to Invercargill. Our drive takes us along Lake Wakitipu through the Devils Staircase, Kingston and Lumsden for afternoon tea before arriving in Invercargill late afternoon.

Our hotel for the night is the Quest Invercargill.

Tuesday, 5 March 2019: Queenstown to Gore

This morning we take the drive to Bluff for the obligatory photos before heading off to Gore.

We are here to visit the Eastern Southland Gallery, home to the John Money Collection among others. Meet Jim Geddes, Curator, and discover the current whereabouts of the Muka press. We also spend time visiting the adjacent Hokonui Moonshine Museum.

Wednesday, 6 March 2019: Gore to Dunedin

Dunedin here we come. We depart Gore and stop enroute to Dunedin in Balclutha and Kaka Point.

This afternoon we begin our discovery of the Dunedin Arts scene with a visit to the Hocken Library where we meet Curator Andrea Bell, learn about the Frances Hodgkin Fellowship, ending with a visit to the current exhibition.

Thursday, 7 March 2019: Dunedin

This morning we visit the Otago Settlers Museum, head out to Larnarch Castle and finish the day visiting some Dunedin’s other galleries such as Milford Gallery and Quadrant Gallery. We will look out for some of Dunedin’s street art as we go around.

Friday, 8 March 2019: Dunedin

This morning we visit Port Chalmers and Careys Bay, discovering the stamping grounds of Ralph Hotere. This afternoon we visit the Dunedin Public Art Gallery and Blue Oyster Project.

Tonight we enjoy a farewell dinner.

Saturday, 9 March 2019: Dunedin to Auckland

For our last morning we need to be up early to visit the Otago Farmers Market, then morning tea at St Clair before heading out to the airport.

It is time to fly home this afternoon after some free time this morning.

We depart this afternoon at 2.45pm arriving in Auckland at 4.45pm
